This year’s Nobel Peace Prize goes to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). This was announced by the Norwegian Nobel Committee last Friday in Oslo.

After the number of people suffering from hunger has decreased significantly since 2000, it has increased again significantly in recent years. The corona pandemic this year has also contributed to this. With 33.8% undernourished people, Afghanistan is sadly in 10th place in the world population (Source: Welthungerhilfe).

Shelter Now has worked with the WFP for many years. Last year alone, we implemented WFP projects for 2.32 million euros, which means we distributed food to 273,000 people. Our financial contribution (Shelter Now Germany) was only about 11.000 €.

We are happy and grateful for the award, as we feel we have a share in this honour. We expressly thank our supporters. Without you we could not do this important work.
